Things to know about Trifle Recipe

A quintessential dessert from England, guaranteed to be seen at summer parties and events. Trifle is essentially a sponge cake soaked in sherry layered together with custard, whipped cream, and fruits. The earliest use of the name trifle was for a thick cream flavored with sugar, ginger, and rosewater in 1585. Trifle evolved from a similar dessert known as a fool and originally the two names were used interchangeably. Trifle, as we know it today, is a household summer dessert across England.
