Ingredients
For Rice
- 1/2 cup Rice
- 1.5 cup Water For Pressure Cooker
- 1 cup Curd
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1 tsp Green Chili Chopped
- 1 tsp Fresh Ginger Root Chopped
- 1 tsp Curry Leaf Chopped
- 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander Chopped
For Tempering
- 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 tbsp Mustard Seed
- 6 pc Curry Leaf
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
Instructions
- Take the rice in a bowl and rinse multiple times with water.
- Add rice and water to a pressure cooker and stir well. Cook the rice for 8-9 minutes so that the rice becomes soft.
- Once the pressure cooker pacifies, take the rice out and mash it nicely with a spoon. Then place it again in the pressure cooker and close the lid for the rice to become warm.
- Take fresh curd and add it to the warm rice. Mix well so that there are no lumps.
- To the curd and rice mixture, add chopped curry leaves, green chilies, ginger, and coriander. Add salt as per the taste and keep it aside.
- Now to prepare the tempering, heat a small pan and add some oil to it. As the oil heats up, add mustard seeds to it.
- After the mustard seed crackle, add curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida to it. Stir it and turn off the flame immediately.
- Pour the hot tempering in the curd rice and mix well.
- Your Indian Traditional Curd Rice from Tamil Nadu – Thayir Sadam is ready to be served with mango pickle.
