Things to know about Kaapi Recipe

Hey, all the coffee lovers out there! Have you ever tasted the Traditional Indian Filter Coffee from South India – Kaapi? If the answer is no, then it is something that you should have.

The Kaapi is a coffee beverage. Its preparation involves combining frothy boiled milk with coffee decoction. While making filter coffee, you will find the use of a special kind of apparatus known as a coffee filter.

To make a decoction, pour the finely ground coffee powder into the filter and add hot water. The coffee infusion percolates at the bottom part of the filter, providing you with a great brew.

People in South India pronounce ‘coffee’ as ‘Kaapi.’ Hence this beverage gets its name. Go to any South Indian restaurant In India, and you will always find this delicious and aromatic beverage on the menu. You can also prepare Kaapi easily at home with a South Indian Coffee Filter.

There is a way of serving the Kaapi. Once the coffee is ready, pour it into a small steel tumbler and place it on a pan-shaped vessel called Davara.  To consume the Kaapi, first, you are supposed to mix it by pouring it back and forth from the tumbler to Davara. This process dissolves the sugar and creates a creamy foam on the top.
