Things to know about Garlic Naan Recipe

The Indian Traditional Flat Leavened Garlic Bread or Garlic Naan is a type of garlic flatbread consumed in parts of Asia. Popular throughout India, Naan is relished as a side dish along with curries. The word “Naan” comes from the Persian word “nân,” which means bread or food.

Naan originated in Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the Indian subcontinent. It is always served hot. The pairing of Naan and Butter Chicken is relished across India. The bread is dipped in this gravy made with tomatoes and butter.

The distinct taste of the bread comes from adding yeast. In Pakistani cuisine, Naans are flavored with ingredients like rosewater or vetiver. In India, Nigella seeds are often added.

Cooking tip for making Garlic Naan

  • Stretch the Naan with your hands, not a rolling pin, since rolling toughens the dough. If the Naan doesn’t get bubbles, increase the heat. Forfluffy Naans, make the dough thicker.
  • You can take less flour and make smaller Naans.
