Ingredients
- 2 cups Wheat Flour
- 1 cup Chickpea Flour
- 2 units Green Chili Finely chopped
- 1 tsp Cardamom
- ⅓ cup Onion Finely chopped
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- 3 tsp Oil For the dough
- ¾ cup Water For kneading
- 1 tsp Oil
- Oil For frying
Instructions
- Take the whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl and add chickpea flour and carom seeds to it.
- Then add onion, green chilies, and asafoetida. Add oil to the mixture and combine everything well with your hands.
- Next, add water and start kneading. You can adjust the amount of water to make a soft and smooth dough.
- Let the dough rest on the side for 10 minutes. After resting, take out sections from the dough and form medium-sized balls out of it.
- Take a dough ball and place it on the rolling board. Dust some wheat flour around the dough and start rolling it with the pin.
- Form a Missi Roti of about 5-6 inches (13-15 cm) in diameter. Make sure that its thickness is medium.
- Now place the rolled Roti on a hot pan and cook it from one side. Flip the Roti when it cooks partially, and then roast the other side.
- Apply some oil on both sides and cook it till you see brown spots. Cook the Roti evenly using a spatula.
- Your Indian Traditional Gram Flour Flatbread from Punjab – Missi Roti is ready. Serve it hot with pickle or yogurt.
