Ingredients
Bisi Bele Bath Powder
- 4 units Red Chili
- 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
- 2 units Clove
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Black Gram skinned
- 1 tsp Bengal Gram (Split)
- 1/2 tsp Fenugreek Seeds
- 1 1/2 tbsp Coriander Seed
Bisi Bele Bath
- 3/4 cup Rice
- 1/2 cup Pigeon Pea Lentil – Pigeonpea – Red Gram – Gungo Peas
- 1 unit Tamarind Ball
- 1 1/2 tsp Jaggery Powder – Panela – Gur
- 1 tsp Clarified Butter
- 1/2 cup Carrot
- 1/4 cup Garden Peas – Sweet Peas – English Peas – Green Peas
- 5 units French Bean
Tempering
- 1 tbsp Clarified Butter
- 1 unit Spring Curry Leaf
- 10 units Cashew
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 1 unit Red Chili
Instructions
Bisi Bele Bath Powder
- Take a pan and heat on low flame.
- Add red chilies, black gram, and Bengal gram.
- When they turn golden, add coriander seeds, cloves, and cinnamon.
- Add fenugreek seeds and turn off the stove when they turn aromatic.
Bisi Bele Bath
- Take 2 bowls. Add rice in one, and grams in the other.
- Wash them separately.
- Pour water to both and add to a pressure cooker.
- Cook for 3-4 whistles.
- Soak tamarind in water. Squeeze and filter the tamarind.
- Add Bisi Bele Bath Powder, jaggery, and salt to the tamarind water.
- Heat a pan and add a teaspoon of clarified butter.
- Now add the veggies and cook until they’re done.
- Add the tamarind mixture, mashed rice, and grams.
- Turn off the stove when the rice is cooked well.
Tempering
- In a small pan, add clarified butter.
- Add cashews, mustard, and red chili.
- Now, add curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Pour the tempering over the Bisi Bele Bath and serve.
