Things to know about Aam Papad Recipe

The Indian Traditional Mango Bar is a golden-colored bar with mango pulp. The mangoes are then mixed with sugar and sun-dried. Aam Papad is known by various regional names. In Assamese, the dish is called “Aamta”. In Bengali, “Aamsotto” is the name of the dish. The Hindi word “Aam” means “mango”.

The dish can be preserved for many months that’s why it’s available in the off-season of mangoes.

Aam Papad is prepared in North India as well as South India. A village in Andhra Pradesh called the Adavinekkalam village is famous for manufacturing the dessert.

Indians also export the dish to other countries.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 cup Mango sliced
  • 2 tbsp White Sugar – Regular Sugar – Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Green Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Clarified Butter

Instructions
 

  • Add mangoes and sugar to a blender and make a smooth paste.
  • In a pan over medium heat, add the puree.
  • Keep stirring.
  • Add cardamom powder.
  • Brush a plate with clarified butter.
  • Add the puree and spread it.
  • Let it dry in the sun for 2 days.
  • Peel without damaging the Papad.
  • Cut into small bars and serve.

NOTES

  • You can opt to skip the sugar.
  • If sun-dried properly, the dish can be stored for a long time.
