Ingredients
Potato Filling
- 2 tsp Oil
- 3 pcs Potato Boiled, mashed
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- 1 pc Chili Finely chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic Finely chopped
- 5 pcs Curry Leaf Finely chopped
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder – Curcuma Powder
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander
Gram Flour Batter and Frying
- 2 cups Gram Flour
- 2 tbsp Rice Flour
- ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder – Curcuma Powder
- ½ tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¾ cup Water
- ¼ tsp Baking Soda
- Oil For frying
Instructions
Potato Filling
- Take a pan and add oil to it. Let the oil heat and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, garlic, chili, and curry leaves.
- Splutter this mixture for a few seconds. Now add turmeric powder and mix gently. Further, add the mashed potato along with salt.
- Mix everything well and add lemon juice and chopped coriander. Combine everything gently and turn off the flame. Let the potato filling rest on the side.
Gram Flour Batter
- Take a mixing bowl and sieve the gram flour in it. Add rice flour, turmeric powder, chili powder, salt, and asafoetida.
- Combine everything well and add water. Now blend the mixture well using a whisk to make a smooth batter.
- Finally, add baking soda to the batter and mix well.
Batata Vada
- Take a small section of the potato filling and make a ball out of it. Dip the ball in the batter and coat it uniformly.
- Now gently put the Batata Vada in hot oil and deep fry it. Keep stirring till it becomes golden and crispy from the outside.
- Remove the batata vada and place it on a kitchen towel to drain the excess oil.
