- 1 cup All Purpose Flour – Plain Flour
- ¼ tsp Carom Seed – Ajwain
- ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- ½ tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Clarified Butter
- Salt to taste
- Oil For frying
- In a mixing bowl, take flour and add carom seeds, cumin seeds, chili powder, and salt. Mix everything nicely.
- Now add the clarified butter to it and combine it well with the flour. Add water to the mixture and knead it to form a stiff dough.
- Once the dough is ready, divide it into five sections and roll them into balls.
- Place a dough ball on the rolling board and roll them into circles of 4 inches (10.2 cm) in diameter.
- Now, with the help of a fork, poke on the surface of the Mathri evenly.
- Meanwhile, heat the oil in a pan. Add the Mathri into the oil and deep fry for 10 minutes on medium flame. Let it become golden.
- Take out the Mathri on a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil. Repeat the whole process with all the balls. You can fry multiple Mathris at a time.
