Ingredients
- ½ cup Gram Flour
- 3 tbsp Semolina
- ½ tsp Ginger Paste
- 2 pcs Chili Finely chopped
- ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder – Curcuma Powder
- 1 tsp White Sugar – Regular Sugar – Granulated Sugar
- ¼ tsp Asafoetida For the batter
- ¾ tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tbsp Oil For the batter
- 1¼ cup Water
- ½ tsp Eno Fruit Salt
- 3 tsp Oil For tempering
- ½ tsp Mustard
- ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Sesame
- ¼ tsp Asafoetida For tempering
- 2 pcs Chili
- 3 pcs Curry Leaf
- 1 tsp White Sugar – Regular Sugar – Granulated Sugar
- 2 tbsp Grated Coconut
- 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander Finely chopped
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, sieve the gram flour and semolina.
- Add the ginger paste, chilies, turmeric, sugar, asafoetida, salt, lemon juice, and oil to the bowl.
- Add water and make a smooth batter.
- Add teaspoon Eno fruit salt.
- Steam the dhokla for about 20 minutes immediately in a pot.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
- Stir and add sesame.
- Add water and sugar.
- Set the tempering aside.
- Cut the dhokla and pour the tempering over it.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, and grated coconut.
- Serve the dhokla.

Cooking tip for making Dhokla
- Use regular Eno without flavors.
- You can also use baking soda instead of Eno.
- If the batter is thick, add water.
- Whisk the batter before adding the Eno. This dish tastes best when served hot.
