It was founded by Hakim Hafiz Abdul Majid in 1906. The drink was launched in Old Delhi. Currently, Rooh Afza is manufactured by companies founded by the owner and his sons. It is often consumed on Iftar in Ramadan, hence important for Muslims.
Apart from India, the drink is also available in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Middle East. Sometimes, milk is also added to Rooh Afza.

Ingredients
- 3½ cups Water
- ½ tbsp Basil Seed
- 4 tbsp Rooh Afza Syrup
- 2 tbsp White Sugar – Regular Sugar – Granulated Sugar
- 6 pcs Ice Cubes
Instructions
- Soak the basil seeds in some water for half an hour.
- In a bowl, add water.
- Add the Rooh Afza syrup and the soaked basil seeds.
- Add sugar and ice cubes.
- Serve cold.
